Agapitos “Peter” Kalfas fell asleep in the Lord on December 1, 2025. Born on November 20, 1945, Peter carried the spirit and warmth of his Greek heritage throughout his life.

On June 1, 1960, he left his home in Paradissi, Rhodes, Greece, journeying with his family on the Queen Frederica to begin an eventful new chapter in America, one filled with colorful stories and the unforgettable charm that defined him.

He was the son of the late Nick and Katina (Kermelis) Kalfas and the brother of the late George Kalfas and Maria Zervos. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Dennis Moriarty, the husband of his sister Zafera “Jane” Moriarty. Peter is survived by Jane and by his sister-in-law Eleftheria “Libby” Kalfas.

Peter is the father of Merritt Knize, Konstantine Kalfas, and Kristopher Kalfas. Each remains an important part of his life story. He was an uncle and great uncle to a large extended family who will remember him with affection for his bold spirit, infectious smile, and the memories he leaves behind.
