Carol “Dianne” (nee Hancock) Sheer, age 87, born on November 15, 1935, passed into eternal rest on March 2, 2023. As the only child of Irene Hancock (nee Murphy) and Robert N. Hancock, she has joyfully reunited with her parents. Carol “Diane” was a devoted Catholic and shared her deep faith with her surviving children: Laura King-Ruse (Larry), Barbara J. King, and Angela Lima (nee Sheer) (Andrew). She cherished her two grandchildren, Meredith G., and David A. Lima. She has maintained a dear, lifelong friendship with Joan Boyer, who also survives her.
Carol “Diane” had a variety of occupations during her long life. She worked for nearly two decades as a field assessor for St. Clair County (IL) and retired from that position after her first grandchild was born in 2008. She then embraced the loving title of “Dee Dee”. We will dearly miss our mom, Dee Dee, and friend. She faced her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease like the other challenges that she confronted in her life – one day at a time.
VISITATION: Monday, March 13, 2023 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 6300 Nottingham Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of mass at 11:00 a.m.
She will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, 10101 W Main, Belleville, IL, 62223.
