Douglas R. Simon, 84, passed away suddenly on April 16, 2026. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Doug was the son of the late William and Marjorie Simon. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and many who loved him.
Doug was a man of many passions. Whether he was on the golf course, at the casino, or out square dancing, he was usually surrounded by a circle of friends and family he cherished. He was a man of quick wit who loved a good laugh and well-timed sly remark. Above all, Doug was his family’s biggest fan; he especially loved being part of the crowd at his children’s and grandchildren’s games and performances.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Patricia Glore; his children, Ron Simon and Kathy Simon (Dave Nassif); his grandchildren, Lydia Patton, TJ Cooke, Lyndsey Cooke, and Carly Simon; and Patricia’s children and grandchildren, with whom he shared many fond memories.
Doug was preceded in death by his siblings William Simon, Jr., James Simon, Marie Simon Klerlein, and Marty Simon. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings: Carolyn (the late Adam) Ulrich, Diane (the late Rich) Gutierrez, Suzanne Allen, Dennis (Jeanne) Simon, David (Judy) Simon, and Paul (Char) Simon; his brother-in-law Paul Klerlein; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Michel Funeral Home 5930 Southwest Avenue St. Louis MO 63139 on May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a chapel service to follow. A procession to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will follow for his final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA). While Doug’s recent diagnosis was a challenge, his family finds comfort in knowing he was spared the later stages of the disease.
Doug’s memory will live on through the lives he has touched and the fond memories he created. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
