Gilbert Lee Pierce Sr., passed away in the early morning hours of July 9, he was 89 years old.
Born December 21, 1936, he was a native of Missouri who loved the city of St. Louis and her many attributes. He enjoyed watching sports, his favorite baseball team was none other than the St. Louis Cardinals. He supported the Blues hockey team, and the Mizzou Tigers. He was a proud member of the armed forces as he served in two different branches of the military: The United States Coast Guard and The Army, 101st Airborne Rangers. He was a patriot at heart, a man who served our country with honor and believed in our freedoms. He took pride in displaying our flag. As a veteran he surrounded himself with, and enjoyed the company of other veterans.
He was a proud member of the Amvets, Post 6, and he was a founder of their riders as he took pride in riding his motorcycle and sharing the highway with his beloved friends and brothers. He was well known, as St. Louis was his home for almost 90 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he was the former head of the Postal Union. Among his many affiliations he was also a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 111, LeMay Aces and the Lion’s Club. He was humorous, as he loved to joke and laugh. And, make other people laugh. Anybody who knew him would say that he was outgoing and outspoken, as well-respected man and the life of the party. Above all his many contributions, and attributes he was first a family man, a great father, and grandfather. All things aside he was a good man who loved his family. He is survived by his two sons and one daughter, his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Without him, the world will be a lesser place without him in it. The sun and the neon lights of St. Louis will not shine as bright.
They just don’t make men like him anymore.
There will be a huge void left in the lives of the people who knew him, and loved him. There will be a huge void in the lives of his family, the people closest to him. For his family sadly lost their beloved patriarch. However, this is not goodbye, but rather until they all see him again. Until then, he will forever be loved and missed.
VISITATION: Friday, August 7, 2026 at Michel Funeral Home 5930 Southwest Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63139 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 A.M.
Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Gil was a great guy. I was an AMVET & with the riders out of Post 1. I loved running around with the great folks at post 6. Gil won the first Harley raffle we did. He will be missed.

Gil, you made such an impact on people. He was a gem for sure. We went on many rat rides together. Those were the days. I tried keepin up with him…what was i thinking. I got hammered.Every.single.time.
He was sooo freakin cool! Gil’s soft side, his serious side, and the love that he so freely gave.He was a gem. He made a mark on things he believed in. Gil, my friend, was a legend. It was an honor to know him. He left us all with pieces of our hearts.
. He would have teased me if he saw me right now ugly crying. I feel blessed that we were friends.
