Jeanette Mary Boone, 96, passed the afternoon of Wednesday November 19, 2025.
Jan was an amazing human being, daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend… someone worth knowing.
Born in St. Louis June 1, 1929, to Cecilia Mary (Korte) and Henry George Wellen, she had two siblings, Ray and Hilda.
She lived a spirited life on her own terms. She had tremendous energy and heart, always looking for something to do, knew what she wanted, learning what she needed, then doing it. She was fearless.
As a graduate of St. Agnes grade school, she organized their reunions. As a teen, she was a drummer in McKinley High School band. In 1950 she was crowned Queen of the Catholic Youth Council of St. Louis.
She worked throughout her life, starting as a youth in a shoe factory, later as a secretary at 3M, decorator at Golde’s department stores, accountant for her husband’s business, bingo manager and caller, for the Epilepsy Foundation, and worked the register at Lowes where she retired at age 89.
She was devoted to her family. At age 22, she married the love of her life. Together they had six children, including infant Stephen who died soon after birth. For the five children she raised, she taught us to discover life, sharing her love of learning and laughing, music and dancing, and hugs – lots of hugs. Each and every one of her family members: husband Ben deceased and children Cindy (Tom), Patty (Rick), Jenny deceased, Kerry, and Mike (Amy) were the most fortunate human beings to have had her in their lives. Beloved grandmother of Jessica and Riley, Nathan and Phoebe.
She will always live in our hearts, inspire us to our best, and guide us in troubled times.
