John Martin Horsey was born January 22, 1979 and passed away August 14, 2021 at the age of 42.

John passed quietly at the St. Louis, Mo home of his sister, Lisa A. Horsey who provided care and support through John’s final months. In addition to his sister he is survived by his mother, Gloria G. Horsey (nee Geer) of Waynesboro, Pa.; his father Jack M. Horsey and step-mother Bonita H. Horsey of Chambersburg, Pa.

His daughter, Nora Folger, of Ormond Beach, Fl., was the love of his life.

A 1997 graduate of WASHS, John went on to study metal machining at Harrisburg Area Community College. John enjoyed tinkering. Anything mechanical or electronic that functioned properly needed to be at least partially disassembled to discover why.  Reassembly was frequently an option. He was fortunate enough to discover employment at Cues, Inc. in Orlando, Fl. that, although it required complete reassembly, used this curiosity to assemble complex special purpose vehicles for municipal public services. Appropriately John had a lifelong interest in antique British sports cars, particularly MGs, and the Subaru Justy which nearly always required his special skills.

John was kind and became a stalwart who would come at a moment’s notice to assist any family member. He loved dogs, any dog. Surprisingly, he enjoyed observing the antics of groups of robins. You never knew when you saw John whether he would be sporting a beard. So if you are not sure if you remember what he looked like, yeah that was him.

The family was proud of John and will miss him. John was most proud of being a father and being drug free for some 20 years.

A reception with the family will take place at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 5:30 until 7:30. The family asks that unvaccinated visitors take appropriate precautions.

Additional services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society in John’s name.

ARRANGEMENTS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MICHEL FUNERAL HOME.
