Joseph Matthew “Matt” Young passed away surrounded by his loving family July 24, 2026, at the age of 71. Matt was born April 26, 1955, to the late Melvin Young and the late Alma (nee Carson) Young.
Matt loved the outdoors! He spent countless hours hunting and fishing. He had a quick sense of humor, a huge heart, and never met a stranger. He maintained an active social life, and nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family and friends.
Matt was the loving husband of Dixie (nee Mobley) Young, a devoted father of Dana (nee Norton) Brown, and beloved PawPaw of Keara Brown and Lily Brown. He was the dear brother of Ron Young, Sidney Young (Karin), Melba (nee Young) Settlemoir, Marsha (nee Young) Boyer, and Dennis Harding. He also leaves behind many cherished friends and their families including the Allens, the Chapmans, the McKees, the Pelikans, and the Wilsons.
Matt is preceded in death by his sister Lisa Young.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 30, 2026, at the De Soto Amvets at 1:00 PM.
