Linda Surdyke (Sliman), 81, Died May 14, 2021. Born February 17, 1940 in Oakdale, Louisiana. Her parents are the late George and Julia Sliman. George Sliman was a Syrian immigrant and Julia (nee Farris) Sliman was from Lake Charles, Louisiana. The youngest of 6 Children (Gloria, Bill, James, Ernest, and Emile).
Beloved wife of Gary Surdyke. Gary and Linda were married September 25, 1960 & celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Linda is the loving mother of 10 children, Debbie (Bruce) Washeck, Cindy, Tim (Janice) Surdyke, Greg (Ginger) Surdyke, Matt (Jennifer) Surdyke, Jennifer (Josh) Huelsing, Rene’(Chris) Creed, Rebecca (Matt) Waterkotte, Sarah and Emily. Linda is the grandmother of 37, Travis, Nikki, Jake, Julia, Victoria, Marisa, Elaine, Thomas, Rosemary, Frances, Kylie, Kendal, Mackenna, Marah, Elijah, Jedidiah, Jonah, Ezekiel, Micah, Bailey, Cameron, Aubrey, Axel, Rolen, Zane, Rocky, Maxwell, Thomas, Jude, Taylor, Chloe, Hannah, Chase, Cadance, Isabella, Estrella, Maiki. Great Grandmother of Helen, Evelynn, Waylon, Walker, Amelia, Lennon, & Jovi.
Linda is preceded in death by her grandson Thomas Surdyke, siblings Gloria, James, Bill, and Emile.
Linda loves family more than anything in this world, and made it obvious that her mission and sacrifice was to ensure her family made it to heaven with her someday. Kids don’t need stuff, they need love, they need examples, and they need guidance towards what’s most valuable in the end.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus on Saturday May 22, at 11:00 AM. Interment following at the family plot at 800 Weaver Rd. A celebration of life and reception of Linda’s legacy will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Birthright of Hillsboro in Memory of Linda Nell Surdyke.

What a beautiful life she lived as is surely evident in her relationships with her family. May God be with her and all who loved her during this most difficult time.

My sincerest condolences to the Surdyke family. Gary, I’m so glad I got to meet you at our 50th OHS reunion in Oakdale. I knew that if you married Linda, you had to be a wonderful man. I was right. I’m so, so sorry for your loss. Linda was a Matriarch. I loved Linda and will miss her. God bless you and your beautiful family.
