Robert (Rob) Borkin passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 43. He was born in Romania on December 12, 1982, and moved to the United States in 1991. Rob was a loving father, son, husband, uncle, and a great friend.
Rob was a devoted and supportive father who always put his children first, caring deeply for their needs and wants. He ran a successful business as a mechanic, building relationships of trust and understanding with his customers. Rob was passionate about creating a strong sense of community with his neighbors and supporting small businesses.
He is survived by his children, Ava and Laszlo; their mothers, Julie and Elli; his mother, Barb; and many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
Though his life was short, Rob left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him. To say he will be missed is an understatement, as there are no words to express the gap in our hearts he has left behind.
Plans for a celebration of life are currently in the works, including one final Vettes and
Vespa Auto Show in his honor. The event is hoped to take place in June 2026, with updates to follow as dates are confirmed.
ARRANGEMENTS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MICHEL FUNERAL HOME

Rob was my friend. I met him 5 years ago when I started working at Schaefer auto care. Many chats, jokes, and technical talk. Always used to Rob coming by. I have to admit i miss him. Not really sure what to say that hasalready been said.we always shared tips and tricks to working on these cars, loaned eachother tools. Spent a few Saturdays down at Real Automotive shooting the breeze. I was shocked and very saddened by his passing. I saw him 2 days before Christmas, he gave me a pair of gloves. He was a big hearted person. He always did something for us at Christmas. All my years in the automotive business, I made a rule to not get to close to coworkers. I broke that rule with Rob. He used to give my boss Troy crap about stealing me away. I know Rob liked me to. Like I said, I miss him coming around, and I will continue to miss him. My sincere condolences go out to his family, and I hope I can help in any way that I can. To my friend Rob, I wish you safe travels on the journey to the unknown, and I hope to see you again buddy.
I just learned of Rob’s passing. I’m shattered and completely shocked. Rob fixed my car many times when I moved to the neighborhood back in 2023. whether it be an oil change or some thing i didnt know I had till he told me, and Seeing my dad was a mechanic, I knew a good reliable mechanic when I met one. I saw Rob as a fixture of the neighborhood and just an all around good person. I don’t know how to grieve for this loss, and I’m saddened for his family and St. Louis
Rob was a great guy. I’m totally shocked by his passing. He has kept my old Ford Bronco on the road for years. My condolences to his family and friends.
